Call 311 to make a request for municipal services or to report a situation requiring Gatineau's intervention. Depending on what you need, your request can be submitted online or by phone during business hours.

Non-emergency municipal requests

Call 311 to make a request for municipal intervention in a situation that does not require immediate action.

You can:

Immediate municipal intervention

When a situation where there is no immediate threat to your safety nonetheless calls for rapid intervention by Gatineau.

In these cases, call 311 at any time

Between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.: an agent will answer and assist you.

Between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.: you will hear an automated message. You will be asked to choose among situations requiring immediate intervention and direct you to the appropriate resource.

This way:

  • processing begins immediately, without the intermediate step of a voice mailbox
  • requests are directed in accordance with the situation
  • service in operation at all times

When should I use 311 or the online service?

The online service is recommended for any non-emergency request for municipal services. If you submit your request through the citizen portal, you can track your request in real time.

311 is available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. if you prefer to speak to an agent who can assist you.

Do I need an account on the citizen portal to submit a request online?

No. You can submit a request as a guest. However, it's a good idea to set up an account on the citizen portal. It takes about 2 minutes and enables you to:

  • easily submit your requests online at any time;
  • track the progress of your request in real time; and
  • access all of your requests in the same place.

What if my request requires immediate attention?

When a situation requires immediate intervention by Gatineau (e.g. watermain break) but does not put your safety at risk.

Call 311 at any time

Between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.: an agent will answer and assist you.

Between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.: you will hear an automated message. You will be asked to choose among the most common urgent situations so you can be quickly directed to the appropriate resource.

Which situations require immediate municipal intervention?

You must at all times call 311 in the following situations:

  • Watermain break
  • Sewer backup
  • Water gushing from the road
  • Significant drop in water pressure
  • Road obstruction or collapse
  • Missing manhole cover
  • Traffic lights not working
  • Urgent need for de-icer on a hill or a tight curve

Emergencies and non-urgent police matters

In case of an emergency

If your safety or that of someone else is threatened, immediately call 911.

911 is accessible at all times for emergencies.

Who to contact for a non-emergency police intervention?

SIf it's a matter of safety or disturbing behaviour without immediate danger, you can call the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) at 819-246-0222.

For instance:

  • Excessive noise
  • Vandalism
  • Conflict between neighbours
  • Non-emergency suspicious behaviour

The situation will be handled without involving emergency services.
