Flood update – Enjoy the nice weather but remain cautious
Gatineau, April 24, 2026. – Since yesterday, a temporary decrease in discharge in several places has led to a slight decrease in water levels.
According to the latest ORRPB forecasts, as of end of day yesterday, water levels and flows appear to be continuing to stabilize in several Gatineau sectors. However, the risk of a new rise in the next few weeks remains. According to the ORRPB, the “rate of snowmelt in the northern portion of the basin and the potential for rainfall over the coming weeks remain uncertain. As a result, a second flood peak remains possible.”
Thus, it is important that shoreline property owners remain vigilant and leave their protections in place. As well, even through levels are falling slightly, Gatineau will continue to assist flood victims and shoreline property owners.
